Alice: Your English has really improved, Shigeru. You must be studying hard.
Shigeru: Thanks. How did you learn to speak English so well?
Alice: Actually, my grandfather is from Canada. And he speaks English.
Shigeru: Really? I had no idea.
Alice: Yeah. My grandmother met him when she was a student in Vancouver. So, I often speak to him in English. I wish I could go and live in Canada someday. It’s my dream. That’s why I want to improve my English.
Shigeru: I’m sure you can make your dream come true.
Alice: Why do you want to speak English, Shigeru?
Shigeru: With English, I could talk with people from other countries. My cousin works on a cruise ship.
Alice: Oh, wow.
Shigeru: He sails all around the world, visiting lots of countries. I want to travel all over the world, too. So, of course, I need to be able to communicate with international people.
