「It takes＋時間の長さ＋to do …」は、何かをするのにかかる時間をいうときの定型表現です。駅まで行くのにかかる時間、料理を作るのにかかる時間など、このパターンで身のまわりのいろいろなことが説明できます。
take （時間が掛かる）の使い方
時間の長さを言うには two hours（2時間）のような通常の表現を使ってもいいです。例文の forever（永遠）は a long time を誇張した言い方です。
It took her two hours to memorize all these English words.
