Today’s dialog
外国人観光客がレストランの券売機の前で戸惑っています。
Tourist: I’m sorry that I’m taking so long.
Yukari: Is there anything I can do for you?
Tourist: Oh, great! You speak English. The ordering system is hard to understand.
Yukari: I know. Even I have problems with it. What kind of dish do you want to order?
Tourist: Well, I’m not sure yet. I want to see all the choices.
Yukari: OK, just press this button.
Tourist: Do they have seafood?
Yukari: Let me see. Oh, yes, it’s in this section. You have two choices. Deep-fried oysters with rice or raw tuna over rice.
Tourist: OK, I’ll get the deep-fried oysters. Thanks a lot!
Yukari: You’re welcome.

「大きな wh 語」What kind of dish を意識しましょう。単独の wh 語と同じようにその後ろに疑問形を使います。

英語文には固有のリズムがあります。このリズムを身につけ、自分のリズムとすることが「英語ができるようになる・英語が話せる」につながります。このリズムを形づくる、重要な原則のひとつが「説明ルール（説明は後ろに置く）＝大切なことは先」です。キーセンテンスはまず Is there anything …（何かありますか）と主要な内容である名詞 anything を先出し。そのあと「私があなたのためにしてあげられる、ね」と説明を展開。単に前の要素を後続が説明するリズムです。
次の文もすべて同じです。
I think he’s a great teacher.
The money in my wallet isn’t enough to buy lunch.
Can I get a fork to eat this with?
The classes taught at that school are all in English.
We had an amazing party last night.
GRAMMAR IN ACTION ～文法の実践～
「大切な内容は先、説明は後ろ」のリズムを身につけましょう。次の全ての文が基本的に同じ意識で生み出されていることに気をつけてくださいね。
The guy making the presentation is our Head of Human Resources.
メインの the guy を先出し。どの guy なのか、説明を加えるために making the presentation。
Some students don’t even have a pen to write with.
a pen を to 不定詞で説明。even は「～さえ」。
We went to a wonderful comedy show last Saturday.
