レッスンのポイント put は単に「置く」ではありません。「置く」よりもはるかに広い守備範囲を持つ動詞です。基本動詞の自由を味わってください。

①any のニュアンス
Can you recommend any good places to visit around here?
any は「どれを取っても」。選択の自由が感じられる限定詞。この文には「どんな good plaece でもいいですよ」が感じられています。また、any good place の後ろに置かれた to visit 以下はその説明。まず「どこでもいいからいい場所を教えてください」と述べた後、どんな場所かを to 不定詞で説明しています。
②後ろに置いて説明をする呼吸
Are there any tours available?
available は「利用可能な」。形容詞の置かれた位置に注目。まず「どんなツアーでもいいんですよ、ありますか？」と any tours を使って述べ、その説明を available(参加出来る）と展開。上の文と全く同じ呼吸の文です。

put という単語は、基本動詞の持つ使い勝手のよさを示す好例です。put one’s signature は「サインをする」ということ。「置く」よりはるかに広いイメージ、それが put なのです。

「言う・表現する」の代わりもできます。会話や文章の中に「置いていく」が意識されているのです

put は平面に置くだけではありません。配置するならどこにでも。天井に風船を飾るのにも put が使えます。
To put it bluntly, you’re not up to the job.
「言う・表現する」という意味で put が使われています。bluntly は「歯に衣着せず、遠回しな言い方をせず」ということ。to put it bluntly は to be honest(正直に言う）などと同じ。後ろに続く内容を予告する表現。だから文頭に置かれます。up to はここでは「レベルに達している」ことを表しています。
If you don’t wear a seat belt, you put your life at risk.
put ～ at risk は「～を危険にさらす」。at risk には「危険を伴う地点」が意識されています。
