Jessica: Well, it’s true. To illustrate your points, you often used examples from your personal experience. I loved that.
Peacock: I think that makes the lecture much more interesting. Otherwise, the audience would fall asleep!
Jessica: Ha-ha! Today, everyone was completely absorbed in your lecture.
Peacock: That’s good to hear. Now, how about some tea?

Masami: I know, but now I have a problem with him. You see, he told me he loved me.
Sota: What? Why is that a problem? And why are you telling me?
Masami: Well, I’m not sure what I should do. I’m not interested in him in that way.
Sota: No wonder he is always asking me questions about you.

Guide: Those are called onigiri, or rice balls.
Tourist: Oh, I’ve never tried them.
Guide: Actually, they’re delicious. You have your choice of salmon, pickled plum or tuna salada.
Tourist: I’ll get the tuna salad.
Guide: Good choice. That’s my favorite too.
Tourist: How do you open it?
Guide: It’s a bit tricky, so I’ll show you how later.

Husband: Well, my boss just asked me to check an important report.
Wife: In other words, you’re going to be late! What should I do? We have a reservation for the restaurant for 7:00. It’s our anniversary.
Husband: I know, but there’s no way I can be home by 7:00. Eight should be possible.
Wife: OK. I’ll change the reservation to 8:00.
Husband: Thanks, honey.
