①現在完了進行形・同格
I’ve always wanted to meet the author, Brendan Peacock.
現在完了進行形のイメージは「現在に迫ってくる」。過去から今に至るまで「いつも会いたかった」と、視線が過去から手元(現在）に向かって移動します。have always wanted 全体を覚えるのもお勧め。よく使われます。さらにこの文では「同格」が使われています。the author と述べたあと Brendan Peacock.を並べて説明。「説明ルール」の典型的な使い方です。
②関係代名詞による修飾
Can I see the book that he signed?
that を使った関係代名詞修飾の文。that は先行詞 the book をしっかりと正確にその説明 he signed（彼がサインした）に「導く」意識で使われています。

stop はそれまで行われてきた動作・活動を「継続しない」。最も広く使われる単語。
finish も停止系。この動詞には「完了・完遂（completion）が常に感じられます。

quit は「やめる」ですが、そこには「（やめて）自由になる」という感触が。
I quit my job.
I quit smoking.
最後に give up（やめる・あきらめる）も

were able to は「～できた」。「実際に～することができた（＝した）」場合、この言い方が could に優先します。can は「潜在」を表す助動詞。could は「やろうと思えばできた」となってしまうからです。
I wanted to do 100 push-ups, but I gave up after 10.
push-ups は「腕立て伏せ」。
The yoga class begins at 10:30 and finishes at 12.
finish が「自動型」で使われていますが、教室の活動が「完了する」感触で使われています。
