中学生の基礎英語　レベル２ Lesson 140 Wrap-up Friday

It’s the end of the week at school. Kota, Sapna, and Nigel are walking out of the school.

Sapna: Look! The jacaranda trees are in full bloom.

Kota: What are jacaranda trees?

Nigel: They are trees with purple flowers. They blossom all over Sydney in spring.

Sapna: You can see them along the road there.”

Kota: Beautiful!

Nigel: It’s going to be sunny this weekend.

Sapna: Perfect beach weather! You must be going surfing, Kota.

Kota: I don’t think I will.

Sapna: That doesn’t sound like you.

Nigel: Yeah, usually you have so much motivation.

Kota: To be honest, I got used to going with Briony. Surfing without her isn’t fun. Let’s do something together instead.

Nigel: OK, if you want to.

Kota, Nigel, and Sapna are at an ice cream shop.

Kota: This strawberry ice cream is really good!

Nige: So is this mango one!

Sapna: All the flavors at this shop are good. Their ice cream is made from milk and fresh fruit.

Nigel: So, Kota, are you really taking a break from surfing?

Kota: I suppose.

Sapna: But you have a brand-new surfboard. What a waste!

Kota: Briony will get better in a couple of weeks. Maybe I’ll go surfing then.

Nigel: You practiced surfing so hard until now. Was all that effort for someone else? Or was it for you?

Kota: Hmm.

Kota is walking with Briony at school.

Briony: Thanks for carrying my books, Kota.

Kota: My pleasure!

Briony: Doing things with a cast is tough.

Kota: I’m sure it is.

Briony: Things like changing my clothes and washing my hair. And eating meals!

Kota: Well, if you need any assistance with anything, just ask!

Briony: Many people are giving me a hand. You’re a great help, too, Kota.

Kota: Your cast looks great now! It is covered with messages and drawings.

Briony: Yeah. I’m lucky to have so many friends.

Kota and the Millers are watching TV in the living room.

TV anchor: “And now some local news. Sign-ups for the Young Surfers Championship are opening soon. This amateur surfing competition will be held in March next year. We encourage all young surfers to sign up!”

Kota: Do you know about that?

Max: Yes. It is known to everyone in Sydney.

Angie: It has different competitions for different age groups. The junior competition is for ages 15 and under.

Kota: Interesting…. Hey, Angie?

Angie: Yes?

Kota: Can we go surfing tomorrow?

I think Mt. Fuji is known to people all over the world.

I think sushi is known to people all over the world.

I think the Shinkansen is known to people all over the world.
