Max: Shall we have a barbecue?

Angie: Yes, let’s! Kota, you can experience an Aussie barbecue!

Kota: Are barbecues common in autumn?

Angie: Australians love to barbecue in every season!

Michelle: Great idea, darling. You grill the meat, as usual. I’ll make some salad.

Max: All right. Kota, why don’t you come shopping with me?

Kota: OK.

Max: Shall I get the bread?

Angie: Yes, thanks, Dad.

Kota: Do you usually eat bread with barbecue?

Max: Always! Bread really goes well with meat!

Kota: Sounds good! And lamb chops…. We don’t barbecue lamb chops in my family.

Max: Lamb chops are very typical in an Aussie barbecue.

Kota: I want to try them!

Max: You’ll love them!

Kota: The steak is so thick. You grill it like that?

Max: Yes, Aussies like our meat in big pieces!

Kota: In Japan, the meat is usually thin slices.

Angie: Really?

Max: Angie, would you pass me the snags?

Kota: Snags…?

Angie: Haha, we sometimes call sausages “snags” in Australia. Here you go, Dad!

Kota: Oh, like a sandwich.

Max: And add my homemade barbecue sauce!

Kota: Mmm, it’s really tasty! What’s in the sauce?

Max: Ah, the ingredients are a secret!

Kota: Many people are barbecuing here today.

Angie: Most parks have barbecue grills. And they’re often free to use!

Kota: Great!

Michelle: Would you like another sausage, Kota?

Kota: Yes, please!
