Tessa: Yuta, where is your friend Kayley?
Yuta: Well, I told her to meet me at Kichijoji Station, but I got a message from her saying that she is already in the park.
Tessa: It’s tough to find someone among all these people.
Yuta: Yes, the cherry blossoms of Inokasira Park are famous, and many people come here every spring to view them.
Tessa: Wait. I’ve only met Kayley once, but isn’t she the girl eating an ice cream over there?
Yuta: Oh, I think you’re right.
Tessa: Let’s go over to her.

①to 不定詞Wを使った目的語説明型。
I told her to meet me at Kichijoji Station.
この文は「動詞＋目的語＋to 不定詞」の形。目的語を to 以下が説明する、「目的語説明型」の文です。her の説明が to 不定詞となっています。
to のイメージは「矢印（→）」。つまり her to meet …は「彼女が meet 方向に動く」を意味します。
②名詞句を説明する意識
Isn’t she the girl eating an ice cream over there?
典型的な「説明ルール：説明は後ろに置く」の例。

It’s tough to find someone among all these people.
among は「～の間に・～の中に」などと訳されますが、これではこの単語を理解することはできません。
among のイメージは「雑多な集合体（ごちゃごちゃ）」です。ひとつひとつがハッキリと見えてこない─そこにこの前置詞のポイントがあります。この文の among から、たくさんの人々が「ごちゃごちゃ」している様子が見えてくるのです。
between も「～の間に」と訳される動詞ですが、こちらはひとつひとつがハッキリと見えています。
次の２つの文の情景を考えてみましょう。
There’s an orangutan between the two trees.
There’s an orangutan among the trees.
between からは2本の木が別々にハッキリと分かれて見えていることが分かりますが、among は違います。うっそうとした・ごちゃごちゃした木々の重なりの中にオランウータンがいます。

among はぜひ慣れていただきたい前置詞です。学生たちがごちゃごちゃいてその間で、ということを表すことができる前置詞は他にないからです。
He found his golf ball hidden among the fallen leaves.
「落ち葉の中に」－これも among の得意領域。hidden は「隠された」、こちらは受動の意味を表す過去分詞です。
My daughter is still choosing between Harvard, Stanford, and Columbia.
between は「2者間」が典型的ですが、ハッキリしているものの間なら三者以上にも使うことができます。
