未来を表す進行形は通常の進行形と同じ形をしています。
be＋動詞-ing 形（現在分詞）
進行形は進行中の生き生きした活動を表す形「～しているところ」でした。
この文にはthis Fridayがついています。未来の時点に焦点を当て「（その時点では）～しているところ」ということですから、その人の立てた「予定（～する予定です）」ということになります。
be going toの「～するつもり、心づもり」と比べると、具体的な計画が整っている（出発便など）感触を伴なっています。
