「習うより慣れろ」を、Practice makes perfect. とイコールととらえる人が多いようですが、このニュアンスは「（練習によって）完璧を目指す／その道を究める」という時に使うのが適切であって、「習うより慣れろ」はトライを繰り返して慣れていくという意味で、Learn by doing. の方がより近い意味合いと言えるでしょう。
