Mila: Oh, you se the guy over there.? That’s the man who I met on the bullet train to Hiroshima.
Sosuke: What a coincidence! Did you talk with him?

まずこの文の意味を考えましょう。met（会った）の目的語位置に空所があることが分かりますね。その空所と the man が組み合わされて「私が新幹線で会った男性」となっています。
今回のポイントは目的語位置に空所がある場合、who だけでなく whom も選ぶことができるということです。
whom は日常あまり使われない、目的格を尋ねる「誰を・誰に」です。
この単語は関係代名詞にもなり、目的語が空所の場合に That’s the man whom I met on the bullet train. と使うことができるのです。
ただ whom は関係代名詞としてもフォーマルな文体を除き急速に退場しつつあります。特に口語では耳にすることはなくなってきました。
人が先行詞の場合、関係代名詞は空所が主語でも目的語でも who で OK。それが現代英語なのです。

hire は「雇う」。hired の目的語を空所にして the guy を修飾です。

My parents can’t stand the guy と言い切ってしまいましょう。can’t stand は「耐えられない・大嫌い」。going out with（～とつきあう）の目的語が空所。ここは関係代名詞を使わずざっくりつなげています。
Unfortunately, the person who they chose to be manager is not up to the job.
the person の説明を関係代名詞節で展開。chose A to be manager（Aをマネジャーに選んだ）の目的語 A が空所。up to は様々な使い方のあるフレーズ。「あるレベルまで上がる」がイメージの根幹にあります。ここでは「任務を遂行するレベルに達している」ということ。
クリスの whom の感想
文法的には正しいんだけど、なんかわざわざ上品を気取っているように聞こえる。日常会話で whom を使うと「なんだあいつは」って笑われてしまいそうだね。
