現在完了形が使われているのは、それが「つい最近発見されたから」です。そしてまた「今、研究対象としてそこにある（だから研究に行くんだよ）」と「今」につながっている感触も含んでいます。「have been + 過去分詞」は受動態の過去完了形ですが、考えなくても瞬間的に口に出来なくてはなりません。
