Hi Philip! How was your Japanese class today?
We spoke Japanese quite a lot. That part was fun. However, the problem is learning kanji. The teacher said we need to learn 500 by the end of this year! How on earth am I supposed to learn that many?
Well, most Japanese adults know about 2,000 kanji.
Two thousand? That’ll take me years! Do you have any advice?
I recommend you begin by reading easy books with hiragana and some simple kanji. I know it’s tough but remember, doing something is always better than doing nothing.

That part was fun. However, the problem is learning kanji.
However による接続です。意味は but と同じ逆接ですが、but のように直接２つの文をつなぐことは出来ません。前の文を終わらせ、一拍おいて「でもね」。これが However の呼吸です。
How on earth am I supposed to learn that many?
How は様子・方法を尋ねる疑問詞。ここは方法（どうやって）の意味。on earth （一体）で文を強調しています。that が many を修飾し「そんなにたくさん」となっていることに注意。this、that が修飾出来るのは名詞だけではありません。
