No, I haven’t skated in years. That’s why I bumped into you.
That’s why … は「それが～の理由です」。bump は「ぶつかる」。into （～の中に）は衝撃を表す前置詞です。のめり込む感じ、です。
It might be a good idea to exchange presents, don’t you think? What would you like?
It might be a good idea to … は控えめな提案を行うときによく使われます。might（ひょっとして～かもしれない）が押しつけがましくない雰囲気を醸し出しています。exchange の後ろが presents であることにも注意。交換ですから複数です。文は、don’t you think? で気軽な質問となっています。
