中学生の基礎英語 レベル２ Lesson 180 Wrap-up Friday
This Week’s Stories
Lesson 176 新学年だけど･･･
Briony: Oh hey, Nigel.
Nigel: I can’t believe we’re in Year 9 now. Time flies.
Briony: I know.
Sapna: I want to join lots of clubs and teams this year!
Nigel: You always do!
Kota: How about you, Nigel?
Nigel: Maybe I’ll join the drama club instead of the chess club.
Sapna: Yes! Then we can do lots of plays together! And you, Kota?
Kota: Well, I don’t have a lot of time remaining here. So, I need to concentrate on surfing.
Sapna: Oh yeah, you’re leaving in March. We’ll miss you so much!
Kota: Well, I’m not leaving yet!
Lesson 177 どんな審査をするの?
Kota: I’ve never seen one before! What is it like?
Briony: Well, there are several rounds. The judges give you a score out of ten points for each try. The contestants with the highest points move to the next round.
Kota: How do you get a good score?
Briony: There are different ways. Some people do difficult moves, and others do lots of moves.
Kota: Are you joining the competition this year?
Briony: I’ve already signed up! So, will I see you tomorrow at the beach for practice?
Kota: You bet!
Lesson 178 さあ、集中だ!
Kota: What’s in those two bottles?
Briony: It’s cordial! It’s one of Australia’s favorite drinks. Cordial is fruit-flavored syrup. We mix it with cold water.
Kota: What flavor are these?
Briony: One is lemon, the other is pineapple. Which would you like?
Kota: I’ll take the pineapple.
Briony: And Harry?
Harry: Lemon, please. Thanks!
Kota: Mmm, it’s sweet and refreshing! OK, we only have two months left until the competition. We need to focus!
Briony: Since I injured my arm, I don’t feel 100 percent.
Kota: You’ll be great! You’re the cool surf demon!
Lesson 179 いっしょに目指そう!
Kota: Thanks. I’ve been practicing surfing a lot for the past couple of months. Let’s come back again tomorrow.
Harry: Wow. Kota reminds me of you.
Harry: Yeah. You’ve always been so passionate about surfing. And now Kota is turning into you.
Kota: That’s a compliment to me!
Briony: Hmm, I’m not sure. I still felt a little uneasy today.
Kota: I’ve improved because you and everyone encouraged me. Now, I believe in you. We can reach our goal together!
