After watching the anime movies, everyone is taking turns signing Briony’s cast.
Nigel: OK! Next, it’s your turn, Kota.
Briony: What did you write, Kota?
Kota: I wrote your name in kanji.
Briony: What’s kanji?
Nigel: It originally came from China. But now kanji is used by Japanese people, too. Each character has a meaning.
Briony: What do these characters mean?
Kota: I used three characters: “bu-rai-oni.” Bu means dance. Rai means come. And oni means demon.
Briony: A demon?
Kota: A cool surf demon! Because you dance on the waves like a demon.
Briony: Awesome! My cast looks much better now!
