Emma: Right! I usually watch it on TV.

Brandon: This ice-skating rink is really popular. Have you skated here before?

Ayane: Yeah. I love ice skating. Aunt Rio bought me these ice skates.

Emma: Nice! I borrowed mine from my mom.

Min-jun: I don’t have ice skates. I have to rent them.

Brandon: Me, too.

Ayane: Thanks. Are you OK? You’re holding onto that wall really tightly.

Min-jun: Well… actually, I’ve never skated before. I’m afraid of falling. I need some advice.

Ayane: Sure. I can help. I took lessons when I was little.

Ayane: Careful! Here. Hold my hand. Now, push off the ice with your right foot. Bend your knee a little, and skate forward on your left foot.

Min-jun: OK…. Hey, I’m doing it! Whoa!

Ayane: Your technique has improved a lot, Min-jun.

Min-jun: Thanks, Ayane.

Nancy: Here you go, everyone. Four hot chocolates.

Brandon: Thank you, Mrs. Becker! There’s nothing like hot chocolate after spending time in the cold.

Nancy: Would you like some toppings? We have marshmallows and whipped cream.

Brandon: May I have some marshmallows, please?

Emma: I’ll have some, too!

Ayane＆Min-jun: Yes, please!

Ayane: Secret Santa? How do you play?

Brandon: First, you write the names of the participants on slips of paper. Then, you put all the names in a hat.

Min-jun: You randomly choose one name, and you have to give that person a present. Some people buy gifts, and others make them.

Ayane: I get it. That way, everyone gives one present and gets one present!

Brandon: Exactly. Oh, remember. Don’t tell anyone the name. That’s why it’s “Secret” Santa.
