Rio: Thank you for inviting us to the restaurant opening, Chef Lorenzo.

Lorenzo: My pleasure! You designed the lovely uniforms for our staff. Now, would you like to order some pizza?

Rio: Yes! What do you recommend?

Lorenzo: I recommend my original pizza. The toppings are smoked bacon, grilled onions, and roasted green peppers.

Ayane: Sounds great!

Lorenzo: Excellent. Coming right up!

Lorenzo: Yes. My parents came from Italy, and I grew up here.

Emma: Did you always want to open a restaurant?

Lorenzo: Absolutely! Even as a little boy, I loved to cook.

Emma: Why did you decide to open a pizzeria?

Lorenzo: New York pizza is so unique and special. I created the entire menu myself.

Emma: I see!

Lorenzo: For the uniforms, I asked for Rio’s help. Everyone loves the staff uniforms designed by Rio. She used fabric imported from Italy!

Emma: Wow!

Emma: Wonderful! The smoked bacon was so tasty.

Lorenzo: Grazie! For dessert, I recommend our gelato or Italian ice.

Ayane: What’s the difference?

Lorenzo: Gelato is a frozen dessert made with milk and sugar. We have vanilla, chocolate, and pistachio flavors.

Ayane: Oh, I love pistachio!

Lorenzo: For Italian ice, we don’t use milk. We use ice and fruit syrup. We have lemon, orange, and cherry flavors.

Ayane: They both sound good, but… I’ll have a pistachio gelato, please!

Man: The famous fashion designer?

Woman: Yes. She is so talented! I saw her at a fashion show last year. She created a series of dresses with exquisite patterns.

Man: What kind of patterns?

Woman: She said that Edo kiriko, or Japanese cut glass, inspired her designs.

Man: How interesting!

Woman: A lot of her clients are celebrities. She must be friends with Chef Lorenzo!
