Lesson 156 If it were Grandpa
夜、旅館から戻ってきた洋子が翔の部屋を訪ねています。
If it were Grandpa
Yoko: Your entrance exam is next week, Sho. Keep studying!
Sho: Of course. By the way, I want to celebrate after I pass the exam.
Yoko: You haven’t passed it yet, Sho. If you do, I’ll raise your pocket money.
Sho: Thanks, Grandma. But I meant I’d like you to come with me to Mari’s group exhibition.
Yoko: I received an invitation from her. It’s in Tokyo, right? I can’t go. I have to look after the ryokan.
Sho: Grandma, it’s Mari’s first ever art exhibition. We have to support that together as a family.
Yoko: Well, yes, but ryokan….
Sho: If it were Grandpa, I’m sure he would gladly come….
Yoko: Oh, all right! I’ll go.
