Yumi: I was wondering if you are comfortable with Mr. Takamine’s sudden request. He wanted only you for the job.?

David: It’s an honor! I am glad to do this with you.

Yumi: Oh, you’re just saying that!

David: Well, I mean it..

Yumi: Thank you. Shall we? Our team is waiting for us outside.

David: I met Mari. She came home for the summer.

Yumi: Mari…I haven’t seen her in years.

David: I wonder if you’d like to see your family again.

Yumi: Look, let’s just think about Hokkaido. Beautiful scenery and delicious food, here we come!

David: Yumi….

Lesson 065 Summary

Yumi wonders if David is comfortable with Mr. Takamine’s request.
David says, “It’s an honor!”
He tells Yumi he met her daughter, Mari.
He wonders if Yumi would like to see her family again.

 

Lesson 066 I’m calling an ambulance

Mimiko: Is something wrong, Yoko?

Yoko: I felt dizzy and lost my balance. I think I twisted my ankle.

Mimiko: You should go see a doctor.

Yoko: Nonsense! A little rest is all I need.

Sho: Hey, what are you two doing here?

Mimiko: What great timing! Your grandmother is hurt.

Sho: What?

Yoko: It’s nothing. Look, I’m perfectly fi… Ow, ow, ow!

Mimiko: You see! You’re in pain. I’m calling an ambulance.

Yoko: No! No ambulances. It’s nothing serious.

Sho: I’ll call Dad. He should be at home now. Hey, Dad. I’m at Sakurayama Park, and Grandma is hurt. Please come quickly!

Lesson 066 Summary

Yoko says, “I felt dizzy and lost my balance.”
Mimiko says, “You should go see a doctor.”
She tells Sho, “Your grandmother is hurt.”
Sho calls his father for help.

 

Lesson 067 Everyone has their limits

Naoki: How is she?

Doctor: She sprained her ankle, but it’s nothing serious.

Sho: Phew.

Doctor: However, she needs a checkup, so I will need her to stay at the hospital today. By the way, how does Yoko spend her day?

Naoki: She gets up at 4 a.m., prepares food, then goes running. She then tends to the ryokan. She goes to sleep by 10 p.m.

Doctor: Does anyone help her?

Naoki: Well, my daughter did. She moved to Tokyo in the spring for college.

Sho: I also help when I can.

Doctor: So she’s super grandma both at work and at home. But everyone has their limits. Please don’t forget that.

Naoki: Yes, thank you. We will be more careful.

 

Lesson 067 Summary

The doctor asks Naoki about Yoko’s day.
Naoki says, “She gets up at 4 a.m., prepares food, then goes running.
She then tends to the ryokan.
She goes to sleep by 10 p.m.”

 

Lesson 068 It’s only one day

Sho: Grandma! What are you doing?

Mimiko: I told her to rest, but she won’t listen.

Yoko: I am going back to ryokan, and that’s final! I have work to do.

Sho: The doctor said he wants you to stay at the hospital for a day.

Naoki: Don’t worry. I’ve asked Masae, our former head server, to run the ryokan today.

Yoko: But she runs her own restaurant! Who will take care of that?

Mimiko: It’s only one day, Yoko. It’ll be fine.

Naoki: Look, we are doing this because we are worried about you! OK?!

Yoko: O…Ok. You win. Now, leave me alone.

 

Lesson 068 Summary

Mimiko told Yoko to rest, but Yoko says, “I am going back to the ryokan, and that’s final!”
Naoki tells her that Masae, thier former head server, will run the ryokan today.
Mimiko says, “It’ll be fine.”
