例 半角 I’ve 全角 I’ve 左の文字は見ただけではわかりにくいのですが、この文をコピーしてワープロ等に貼り付けると違いがわかります。

too … to ~は「…すぎて~できない」を意味する有名なフレーズです。ところで not があるわけでもないのに、どうして「できない」という意味になるのでしょうか。was too tired で「疲れすぎていた」。ここから「何かができないのだろうな」が想像され、それを後続の to 不定詞が「考えることが、ね」と説明しているというわけです。
