Fiona: Hey, how's it going, Jack?
Jack: Not too bad.
Fiona: Not too bad? Sounds like something's not so good.
Jack: No, really. Everything's fine.
Fiona: Oh, I know what it is. You have a crush on Debbie, don't you?
Jack: What? Who told you that?
Fiona: I see how you look at her every time she walks into this shop. Just tell her how you feel.
Jack: Is it that obvious?
Fiona: Come on, Jack. I wasn't born yesterday.
B: She is Jack's colleague.
C: She is the woman that Jack likes.

Mr. Stevens: Pretty good, thanks. How many years has it been since you graduated?
Natsumi: It's been four years already.
Mr. Stevens: Are you enjoying working in the big city?
Natsumi: Yes. Actually, I'm using English at my job. Your lessons have helped me a lot.
Mr. Stevens: I'm glad to hear that. Well, it's really good to see you again. Take care.
Natsumi: Thank you, Mr. Stevens. You too.
B: They hadn't seen each other for quite a while.

Nami: Good morning. What's wrong, Dad?
Mr. Ito: Oh, nothing serious. We sold only three cups of shaved ice yesterday.
Nami: Only three? What happened? We were selling dozens before.
Mr. Ito: Other shops have started selling rose wine-flavored shaved ice too. There's too much competition.
Nami: I have an idea. Let's try selling caviar-flavored shaved ice.
Mr. Ito: Caviar? Yuck! Isn't that salty?
Nami: Yes, but young people like salty desserts these days.
Mr. Ito: Where can we get caviar-flavored syrup?
Nami: Let me look into it, Dad.
B: There is not enough competition.
C: His shaved ice is too salty.

Takuma: Really? Who was it?
Miranda: Professor Peacock, the archaeologist, was there! He said my presentation was interesting.
Takuma: Wow, that's so great. What did he like about it?
Miranda: He liked my comparison of ancient Rome with modern-day Tokyo.
B: It went very well.
C: Professor Peacock didn't like it.
